The Windswept Pine

$8,000.00

31” wide x 40” high x 3.75″ deep

This unique handcrafted piece of art was designed with a deep sense of movement, as if the tree is dancing in the wind.  The carved cedar background, stylized bundles of pine needles, and the design of the rocks are all flowing, allowing your eyes to move across the piece and take in all the unique aspects of this statement piece.

The artwork is inspired by an iconic pine tree in Killbear Provincial Park, on Georgian Bay in Ontario (Canada).  The tree exudes resilience and adaptability, living in a harsh climate amongst the intense winds and winters.

One of the main inspirations behind The Windswept Pine was a call to deepen in my appreciation of beauty wherever I am, finding acceptance with undesirable circumstances, and trusting in my inner knowing.  I started this piece in 2021 in Ontario at my parent’s house while recovering from over a decade of deep depression, then had a necessary hiatus while I moved to BC and found shop space.  It was then finished here in BC in the fall of 2023, when for the first time in my life I was in a state of health, happiness and peace.

The artwork is made from:

  • A variety of high quality and carefully chosen wood:  Western Red Cedar, dyed Curly Maple, Black Walnut (natural and dyed), and Ambrosia Maple.
  • 3.75” deep, handcrafted frame made from Douglas Fir. Secured with professional joinery (splines) and blackened with high quality hardwood oil.

Ready-to-hang with an easy to install metal cleat that will keep the piece secure and level on your wall. Instructions will be included in the shipment to help install the bracket on your wall. Artwork should be hung out of direct sunlight, since UV exposure will fade wood products over time.

Contact me for pricing that excludes shipping if you’re local to the Kootenays (BC) or are interested in picking up the artwork.
