Wooden artwork capturing the mountain range that includes Mount Lawrence Grassi to Ha Ling Peak – in Canmore (Alberta). The mountain is shaped/carved to add some depth and is fully handcrafted. This overall artwork encapsulates the beauty of natural wood grain, while providing a splash of colour and modern feel. My favourite aspect is the waves from the natural figure in the lake, which is made from curly maple that has been dyed to be a “glacial teal” colour.
This artwork is made from:
- Hand cut and carved local hardwoods – walnut, maple (figured and curly), white oak, roasted ash.
- Cabinet-grade maple plywood as a canvas/backing. Coloured with some blue dye mixed into the finish.
- Handcrafted frame made from black dyed & oiled red oak.
Easy-to-hang with a sawtooth hanger that will keep the piece secure and level on your wall. Artwork should be hung out of direct sunlight, since UV exposure will fade wood products over time.
