Voice Of The Mountain

A powerful snowy peak rises above flowing carved contours, its presence both serene and commanding. The background sky moves with rhythm—like wind or breath—dancing around the mountain and radiating outward, as if carrying the mountain’s voice into the world.

Layered ridges and sculpted shadows create depth and dimension, giving the mountain a grounded quality that steps forward into the room with quiet strength. Rich tones of Black Walnut and Maple flow in harmony with the dyed blue background, guiding the eye through stillness and motion. The blend of earthy textures, vivid color, and a blackened frame strikes a balance between the organic and the contemporary.

Crafted with care and intention, this piece speaks to the quiet power of the mountains—and the voice they carry, for those who take time to listen.

The mountain was created in 2021 based on Ama Dablam (in the Himalayas), which I fell in love with.  But the initial background didn't meet the majesty of the mountain, so in 2025 I crafted the new carved background, which brought the piece to life.  

Materials:

• The mountain is sculpted from a variety of premium Black Walnut and Maple woods, including Curly Maple and select pieces with natural bark inclusions. Finished with a high-quality hardwax oil for lasting protection and natural richness.
• The flowing carved background is made from dyed Maple wood and finished with the same premium hardwax oil to enhance its color and grain.
• Finished plywood is used as the structural backing for both the mountain and the background carving.
• The handcrafted Douglas Fir frame is professionally joined, blackened, and sealed with multiple coats of premium hardwood oil. 

Display:
This artwork is ready-to-hang with an easy-to-install metal cleat for secure and level mounting. Detailed instructions are included for effortless setup. To preserve its beauty, hang it out of direct sunlight to prevent UV fading.
