Venerated Heights

Mount Shasta is regarded as one of North America’s most sacred peaks, a place where power, presence and quiet mystery converge. Venerated Heights reflects this enduring presence through its layered and hand-carved sculptural depth, allowing the mountain to rise from the wall with a sense of grace and strength. The contours of Shasta are shaped in premium hardwoods that reveal shifting tones, natural shadows and the intricate beauty of wood grain, highlighting the artistry of this fine handcrafted wood sculpture.

Above the main summit, a carved lenticular cloud adds an element of wonder. These formations, often seen hovering over Shasta, feel serene, exalted and otherworldly. The flowing blue background guides the eye inward, creating a meditative rhythm that deepens the connection between sky, mountain and viewer. Every board of wood was deliberately selected to enhance the ridgelines and tonal transitions, turning the mountain into a striking interplay of light, depth and texture.

Framed in a blackened cherry hardwood frame that brings structure to the organic forms within, Venerated Heights becomes a window into the majesty of nature and an invitation to pause and reconnect. It honors the sacredness of the mountains and offers a moment of quiet reverence to anyone who stands before it.

Materials:

• Premium woods, including a variety of Black Walnut, Maple and Mahogany.  Various boards were carefully chosen for each species to create a range of tones, shading and intentional details in the artwork.  The carved sky is blue-dyed Maple wood.  
  
• Handcrafted 4.25" deep frame made from Cherry wood, featuring professional joinery with a blackened finish and multiple coats of premium hardwood oil

Display:
This artwork is ready-to-hang with an easy-to-install metal cleat for secure and level mounting. Detailed instructions are included for effortless setup. To preserve its beauty, hang it out of direct sunlight to prevent UV fading.

Additional Notes:

This sculpture was also inspired by Alex's journey to Mount Shasta in 2023, where he communed, adventured and most importantly got engaged to his wonderful wife Christina.  It was crafted over many months of devoted work between early 2024 and late 2025.
